Community Foundation of Halton North announces 2019 Grant Recipients
HALTON HILLS – On May 30, 2019, the Community Foundation of Halton North (CFHN) celebrated its 2019 grant recipients at an event at the Acton Town Hall. This year, thanks to CFHN’s generous fund holders, the Foundation was able to distribute $73,000 to charitable causes.
“The Community Foundation of Halton North’s vision is to grant back to charitable causes. I am thrilled that the Foundation is now in its fifth year of fulfilling its mission and has granted almost $180,000 in that short time.” stated Brad Clements, Chair of CFHN.
Current fund holders worked with the Foundation to decide this year’s grant recipients. CFHN also identified two new Funds this year, the Palliative Care Fund to help support the palliative needs in the community and the Mental Wellness Fund, which this year is focusing on Youth and Youth Mental Health.

CFHN provides a unique opportunity for donors to donate to a favourite cause or causes for years to come. A donation to CFHN is invested and never spent – it keeps earning interest year after year. The revenue is used for grants that are given to charities, forever. Donors can give to a specific charity or several charities at once. A donor can also choose to give to an area of interest. A gift through CFHN will benefit the community in a significant way – for good for ever. CFHN now has almost $3.3 million in their endowment.
CFHN is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors, representatives across the communities that make up Halton North. Established in Canada almost 100 years ago, today, there are 191 Community Foundations in cities, towns and rural areas across the country. These locally-run, public foundations play a critical role supporting community groups. Last year they provided well over half a billion dollars to local charitable causes across the country.
